Healthy Yard, Healthy Dog

When I look at my Golden Doodle I sometimes have a hard time seeing the relation to her Wolf ancestors. Though through the generations of evolution one thing has stayed the same for all canines and that is a LOVE of being outside. With all the extra smells and mental stimulation your dogs especially love being outside in their domain. A yard becomes a sanctuary for a dog to mark as their own. Keeping this clean not only helps you get more enjoyment out of the yard buy helps your dog stay healthier.

It might seem a little obvious but dog poop can be a very fertile breeding ground for bacteria that can be harmful to your dog. With a risk of transmitting such diseases as Salmonella, Giardia, Ecoli and worms it is important to clean up your dogs poop to keep them from accidently catching one of these.

Another big risk to your dog is that poop can attract pests that you don’t want in your yard. Bugs like Flies can use poop to help colonize and grow their numbers. Allowing these pests to breed close to your house can lead to an annoying infestation if your not careful. The more flies you can keep out of your yard the easier it will be for you to keep your inside clean of the pests.
